Ecommerce and campaign workflow

A Product Background Workflow for AI Images

A good product-background edit begins with a usable source, a clear scene brief, and a review checklist. The goal is not just a dramatic background; it is a result the product team can safely evaluate and refine.

Prepare the source before prompting

Use the highest-quality product photo available. Keep the full silhouette visible and avoid heavy reflections, motion blur, or objects crossing the package. If a label or logo must remain exact, plan to compare it against the source and replace it manually when needed.

Choose the destination before selecting the ratio. A marketplace listing usually needs a simpler background than a campaign hero, while a social post may need extra space for a headline or price badge.

Review checklist

  • Confirm that you own or are allowed to edit the source product image.
  • Remove irrelevant props that could confuse the model.
  • Record required brand colors and any details that cannot change.
  • Decide whether the result is a concept draft or a production asset.

Describe the new environment and the protected product

Write the environment as a small set design: surface, background, light direction, material, palette, and camera position. Then explicitly protect the package dimensions, cap, label location, primary color, and viewing angle.

Example product-scene prompt
Place the same skincare bottle on pale limestone beside a soft folded linen cloth, warm morning window light from the left, quiet cream and sage palette, realistic contact shadow, premium editorial product photography. Preserve the exact bottle silhouette, cap shape, label position, camera angle, and product color. Leave clean copy space on the right, 4:3 landscape.

Run a product-specific quality check

Compare the generated asset with the source at full size. Check shape, label text, brand mark, cap or closure, material, reflections, and contact shadows. Watch for invented accessories, duplicate products, floating objects, or a background that makes the product hard to identify.

For final advertising or ecommerce publication, use normal design tools to restore exact text and regulated information. AI generation is useful for visual exploration, but it should not be the final authority for packaging facts.

Apply the method to a real generation

Save the source and prompt, then change one variable per attempt. Before publication, inspect identity, hands, text, logos, and rights-sensitive material at full size.
